Training Contracts
Our aim is to recruit trainees who will contribute to the ethos of the firm. We are a friendly and supportive firm but expect commitment and a willingness to contribute. In return we hope to offer a long-term future for our trainees.
The Training Programme
Training is undertaken over a two-year period. The programme is normally divided into four six-month periods spent in different departments in order to provide a wide experience of different areas of the law. We aim to provide variety, responsibility and intellectual challenge.
The following are areas of work which may be included in the training programme:
- Personal Injury
- Company and Commercial (insolvency law related)
- Commercial Property (insolvency law related)
- Commercial Litigation
- Employment Law (contentious and non-contentious)
We are able to offer a practical training, with the opportunity to manage your own caseload (under supervision of course). You will have plenty of client contact and gain experience in all the key skills including case management, research, drafting, negotiation and advocacy.
This is backed up by the Professional Skills Course and our own in-house training programme, which includes seminars both by our own partners and solicitors and by barristers and experts.
Qualification and Skills
We welcome applications from graduates of all disciplines. We would normally expect our trainees to have a minimum of a 2.1 degree.
We are looking for candidates who are able to demonstrate that they are capable of making a balanced contribution as part of a team. Good communication skills, IT literacy and a forward-looking pro-active approach are essential attributes.
Application
Application is by CV and covering letter. Please can you also enclose a copy of our equal opportunities monitoring form (see link on the left).
Please include the subjects studied at A level together with the grades obtained, the subjects and results in your degree course and if known the electives to be studied in the LPC.
