BRIAN CLARIDGE went along to the firm's celebrations and to find out more about this niche legal practice that has a unique approach to dealing with legal issues.

Their team of lawyers provide clients with a highly professional and value-for-money service. With their exceptional knowledge of the law and legal procedure, their aim is to win every case and converse with clients in straightforward language without the legal jargon usually associated with the legal profession.

Coyle White Devine was started 5 years ago by Peter Coyle and David Sheahan. Senior Partner, Peter, started his professional life in the City of London litigating insolvency and banking disputes. He worked for National Westminster Bank and Coutts & Co in their corporate recovery teams in London and New York. Partner, David Sheahan joined CWD in 2005, having spent 6 years in the commercial litigation department of another local practice. He now manages all of CWD's property litigation as well as the firm's intellectual property caseload, with particular emphasis on passing off claims and trademark infringement.

Covering many aspects of the law, Coyle White Devine is primarily involved in dispute resolution in its many forms. This includes business disputes, insolvency, sports disputes, intellectual property disputes, defamation, employment, family & matrimonial disputes, property disputes, professional negligence and personal injury. The firm have represented sporting personalities, high profile musicians, entertainers and businesses in the protection of their personal and professional reputations. One of the keys to their success is endeavouring to reach an early resolution in order to avoid a lengthy, costly and stressful court process.

I went along to the firm's 5th birthday celebrations at their offices in Amersham and the launch of two new services covering Family and Employment Law. The Family Law division is headed by Alison March and Vanessa Macleod who have a wealth of knowledge in this area. The service covers divorce and separation, ancillary relief, child matters, injunctions, issues concerning unmarried families and advice on pre-nuptial and cohabitation agreements. The Employment Law division is headed by Victoria Harris and Laura Whitworth, both experienced employment law solicitors. They offer professional advice to employers and employees on all aspects of employment law including unfair dismissal, breach of contract and redundancy.

The birthday celebrations was well attended by clients, contacts and suppliers of Coyle White Devine and the firm's management team and lawyers were on hand to mingle with guests and answer any questions. After a drinks reception (with canapes provided by Hertfordshire based caterers, Eatpure) Peter Coyle welcomed guests to the event and provided details about the two new services. Following this, a raffle was held to raise money for the firm's charity - The Thomas Ball Cancer Charity of Great Missenden (www.thomasball.org.uk) The fund raising event raised over £1,000 and exceeded everyone's expectations. Commenting on the success of the charity raffle, Peter Coyle said: "We're delighted with the money we've raised which will help two families afflicted by cancer to go away for a week to one of the holiday chalets owned by the charity."

All guests attending the CWD event were given a party pack as a reminder of the occasion. It contained a number of company branded gifts, including a hand warmer, ice scraper, notepad and pen set.
