Stephen Ellis-Jones

Stephen qualified as a Lawyer and was called to the Bar in 1992 following a 12-year career as a Chartered Civil Engineer. He practised at the Bar for a further 12 years before becoming an in-house Barrister for a firm of Solicitors in 2004, providing specialist Civil Litigation advice to their various departments.  He has now joined Coyle White Devine as a Consultant to provide similar specialist advice.
Stephen has appeared regularly in courts of first instance, the High Court and the Court of Appeal, as well as specialist courts such as the First Tier Property Tribunal and the Technology and Construction Court. He undertakes all aspects of Civil Litigation but in particular professional negligence, property-related law & property management, consumer credit & lending, debt recovery & insolvency, construction law and contentious probate. Stephen is able to bring the expertise gained in Civil Engineering to good effect in areas such as professional negligence against surveyors engineers and architects, property claims and construction disputes.
Stephen is a member of the Middle Temple.
Away from work, Stephen enjoys playing tennis and was the Chairman of a local tennis and squash club for 16 years. He is the Executive Editor of a local newspaper and is responsible for governance and regulation. He also enjoys skiing and following Welsh rugby, the latter of which he has done since the halcyon days of the 1970s and the great Welsh team of Gareth Edwards, Phil Bennet, JPR etc.
